We're a small shop, and we like it that way.
The Promontory Academy exists because of something we watched happen too many times, in too many schools, on too many continents: the system wearing down its best people. Teaching young people is one of the finest and most critical callings there is. Yet the tools teachers are handed so often seem designed to crush the very things great teaching runs on: creativity, flexibility, and the joy of learning alongside your students. Then everyone acts surprised by early teacher burnout, and by students ground down into boredom by the drudgery of it all.
We think it's simple: the human comes first, or the learning suffers. Every page we build starts there.
Action research, on three continents, building materials that refuse the trade-off between rigorous and joyless. Serious academics that students actually want to open, built for the parent at the kitchen table and the teacher who never stopped wanting to teach
What we make
Homeschool materials. English tutoring materials. Educator training. Publications. Four service lines, one method. Real academic content, carried in language a learner can actually get through, with the difficulty placed in what we ask them to do rather than in the words they have to decode.

We're in business to help parents and tutors become better, more engaged guides for their students. That's the whole mission. There's no board to please and no investors to bend to, which means every decision gets made the right way instead of the expedient way, from the first page of a packet to the last. Personal, quality-driven, start to finish. That's not a launch promise; it's a standing one.

The Human Comes First — Creativity, flexibility, and the joy of learning alongside your students.
We build for the actual child at the table: the one who asks sideways questions, who needs one more example, who lights up when something finally clicks. And we build for the adult sitting beside them, because that person's enthusiasm is the most valuable resource in any lesson, and it deserves materials that feed it instead of grinding it down. Curiosity is not a distraction from learning. It is the whole engine. Every page we make protects it.

Built and run by an M.Ed. educator with 33 years in classrooms worldwide, with continued study through the University of Jyväskylä, the Harvard Graduate School of Education, AP design at Stanford, and University of California graduate programs.

Where We're Going
The packets are just the beginning. We're working toward an afterschool academic development center in northern Portugal, planned for 2027, with more to follow.
